We've put together a list of recommended eMail Software. eMail client is another term used for your eMail software. It's simply the software installed on your Computer system to access and manipulate your eMails.
So how does it work? Well we could write pages on the technical details on this but it's simply explained here
But simply remember - You have an eMail Client, which collects eMails from a POP3 Server - This server will have a name, i.e. mail.domain.co.uk. Your eMail client will login to the Server with your supplied Username and Password, if correct the eMail client will download your eMail.
When you send an eMail, again there is a Server usually known as a SMTP Server. This server will also have a name, i.e. mail.domain.co.uk or smtp.domain.co.uk. If there is a Username and Password required, your eMail client will pass this information on then the Server will allow your eMails to be sent through it's system to your recipient.
NOTE: The POP3 and SMTP Servers are out on the internet, not on your system at home!
